John 4:28-29

So, the woman left her water jar and went away into town and said to the people, “Come, see a man who told me all that I ever did. Can this be the Christ?”.

Reflection

Today we are continuing with the story of the encounter between the Samaritan woman and Jesus. What happened when Jesus told the woman about her personal life? In today’s verse we are told that she left everything at the well and ran to the city to inform the city about her encounter with Jesus. She did not just inform them but she invited them: “Come, and see.” This is what happened when we encounter Christ we forget about all the things we treasure and ran with the testimony of our encounter with Jesus. Water was important for her to the extent that she did not want to share it with Jesus but when Jesus gave her the living waters she forgot about water and ran away to the city with the living water. When we have encountered Jesus at the well of lent, let us run to the city and share our experience with Jesus with everyone. When Jesus revealed Himself to us, it is not only for our personal benefit but we should share the good news with everyone. Today we cannot talk about the evangelization of Samaria without mentioning this story of the Samaritan woman. Remember those two men on the road to Emmaus, when they encountered Jesus at the breaking of break they forgot about the meal before them and ran back to Jerusalem to share the good news with apostles in Jerusalem. When we encounter Jesus our life will be same. Let us take this opportunity of Lenten well  to encounter Jesus and share the good news with others.

Collect

ALMIGHTY and everlasting God, who hatest nothing that thou

hast made, and dost forgive the sins of all them that are penitent:

Create and make in us new and contrite hearts, that we worthily

lamenting our sins, and acknowledging our wretchedness, may

obtain of thee, the God of all mercy, perfect remission and

forgiveness; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
