Psalm 3:8

From the Lord comes deliverance.
May your blessing be on your people.

David concludes this psalm by affirming that salvation belongs to the Lord. It is rare to find such a level of faith from someone in the palace with counsels, guards, and soldiers. As a king expect him to have more faith in his security or alliances as his predecessors will later do. Such a level of faith enables him to express confidence in the Lord to deliver him from his enemies, and he ascribes all the credit to the Lord. He further demonstrates his leadership qualities as a shepherd by interceding for all his subjects. In times of crisis, he thinks about and prays for the well-being of the people of Israel despite his difficult personal circumstances. Such is a true shepherd of Israel who continues to carry the burdens of his people regardless of his own heavy load.

Lessons for today are:

  1. True salvation comes from the Lord alone.
  2. We should not forget about interceding for other people´s needs even if we have our own needs
  3. Continue to trust in God even when the atmosphere is dark

  1. This is a powerful point that we should not forget about interceding for other people´s needs even if we have our own needs.
