Psalm 3:7

Arise, Lord!
    Deliver me, my God!
Strike all my enemies on the jaw;
    break the teeth of the wicked.

The phrase “Arise, O Lord” is like a war cry that was used by the Israelites as they marched toward their enemies on a battlefield. By using this phrase, David is invoking the memories of Numbers 10:35. In today´s verse, David continues by demonstrating his faith in the Supremacy of God over evil. He has a rich memory of how God has crashed his enemies in the past namely; Goliath, the Amalekites, and King Saul. The picture we get in this verse is a strong boxer knocking his opponent with a heavy blow that breaks his teeth. Such is the faith of David in his God.

Lessons for today.

  1. God is prepared to fight our war with the devil.
  2. No evil can withstand God´s power
  3. Whenever besieged by evil forces remember to call the name of God
