Psalm 3: 5-6
I lie down and sleep; I wake again because the Lord sustains me. I will not fear though tens of thousands assail me on every side.

We are still dealing with the troubled David. Although David was surrounded by his enemies, he felt secure because the Lord was on his side. This feeling of being safe in the hands of God is expressed in verses 5 and 6. “I lie down and sleep; I awake again because the Lord sustains me.” The psalmist mentions this as remarkable proof of divine protection and favor. He is not worried about the battalion of troops that is planning to capture him. He knows that the heavenly army is stronger and more than the earthly arm. Such is the faith of King David.

Lessons for today
- We need to remain faithful to God even in threatening times.
- No schemes of the devil can overcome God´s power.
- Those who believe in God will never panic even in times of uncertainty.
