Text: Jude 1:10
But these people slander whatever they do not understand, and they, like irrational animals, they know by instinct.

In today´s verse, Jude continues by blasting these apostates. He used very strong language about these false teachers. First, he says, ¨they slander whatever they do not know¨. They profess to be knowledgeable by assuming the role of being teachers yet in the face of Jude they are ignorant. How can someone be both teacher and ignorant at the same time? Is this not an oxymoron? They are ignorant in the way that they do not know anything about spiritual things. These might have been gnostics who appeal to the intellect and not to faith. Their intellectual prowess misinformed them about the things of God

Secondly, Jude classifies these gnostics as irrational animals who appeal to instinct. What they regard as superior knowledge is relegated to the level of knowledge in the animals. Their destiny, therefore, is eternal destruction. Two takeaways for today are 1. Not all knowledge is profitable for the kingdom of God. 2. We should be in a position to discern godly teaching from ungodly one.
