Text:  Jude 1:9

But when the archangel Michael contended with the devil and disputed about the body of Moses, he did not dare to bring a condemnation of slander against him, but said, ¨the Lord rebuke you!¨.

Jude is further giving examples of what happened to those who attempted to rebel against God and in today´s verse he pointed out the dispute that took place among the angels in heaven as some of them rebelled against God. Jude is alluding to the dispute mentioned in the apocalyptic books of Daniel (10:13, 21; 12:1) and Revelation (12.7-9). The concerning the body of Moses that is being alluded to by Jude is a reference to an ancient Israelite story about the rebellious angels wanting to steal the body of Moses and make him an object of worship, however, the story does not have a scriptural reference. It was an oral story.

The important thing in the whole story is that the archangel Michael with his battalion of other faithful angels defeated the rebellious angels and cast them into eternal fire. Two takeaways for today are 1. No created order even angles can usurp God´s throne. 2. No created being should be worshipped but only God
