Text: Jude 1:7
Likewise, Sodom and Gomorrah and the surrounding cities, which, in the same manner as they, indulged in sexual immorality and pursued unnatural lust, serve as an example by undergoing a punishment of eternal fire.

In today´s verse, Jude goes on with demonstrating what happens to those who pervert God´s laws by citing the example of Sodom and Gomorrah and other surrounding cities. These were cities that existed during Abraham´s time and God destroyed them by fire after they followed their sinful lusts. This is the story we find in the book of Genesis but what is encouraging is that Lot and his family were spared because they remain faithful even when the whole city was rotten.

Two takeaways for today are: 1. God punishes the unrepentant and spares those who repent of their sinful ways. 2. God does not punish the righteous together with the sinners
