And the angels who did not keep their own position, but left their proper dwelling, he has kept in eternal chains in the deepest darkness for the judgment of the great day.   

Jude goes on with another example and now it is from the angelic world. This example points to the rebellion by satan and how he was overthrown from his role and cast into darkness. The angels were created in the holy, honourable, and happy state but they decided to abandon that state and purpose. They decided to rise above God and in turn, God punished them.

These fallen angels are therefore waiting for the judgment day when everyone will be accountable to the creator. Two takeaways for today are 1. No creature has the power to undermine the authority of the creator. 2. We will all be accountable to God on judgment day.
