Text:  Jude 1:4

For certain intruders have stolen in among you, people who long ago were designated for this condemnation as ungodly, who pervert the grace of our God into licentiousness and deny our only Master and Lord, Jesus Christ.

The reason why Jude switched his mind from writing about salvation to the subject of defending their faith aggressively is now coming clearer. In today´s verse he explains why his readers should aggressively defend their faith. The problem was the entrance penetration of false teachers into the church who were now swaying people away from the faith that was entrusted on them by the apostles. These false teachers justified immoral life in the name of the gospel. They even rejected the authority and lordship of Jesus Christ. Jude describes these people as ungodly who pervert the grace of God.

This was the major problem with the early church and even today false teachers are still in existence hence we need to be always on guard and ask for God´s spirit of discernment. Two takeaways for today are 1. We need to be always on guard against false teaching and evil lifestyles. 2. There is no substitution for godly truth.
