Philemon 1:4

When I remember you in my prayers, I always thank God.

Paul goes on to inform Philemon that he remembers him in personal prayers. The apostle thanks God for the faith of Philemon and this demonstrates that Paul was also an encourager of those with whom he works. This is a very short letter with only twenty-two verses but the word ´prayer´ appears twice showing the importance of prayer in the life of Paul. Such an encouragement to Philemon made him feel noticed, love and valued

I would to draw you to three important lessons to take from this verse;

  1.  The importance of prayer in the life of a Christian. We might want to do all sorts of services before God but first and foremost we should be people of prayer. Prayer comes first and services second.
  2. The Importance of Intercession. How often do we pray for other people´s needs in our prayers? More often we only pray for our needs and we forget others. Paul in his prayers will remember other people.
  3. The Importance of acknowledging other people´s ministries. Paul appreciates the ministry of Philemon and he plainly and openly appreciates it.

May the almighty God help us to remember these three lessons today
