Psalm 1:6

For the Lord watches over the way of the righteous, but the way of the wicked will perish.

This is the last verse in Psalm 1 and it wraps up the entire comparison between the righteous and unrighteous people that has characterized the entire chapter. The psalmist is clear that the Lord knows who is righteous and who is not. No one can escape His eye or deceive Him because He examines the heart. Earthly judges can be deceived, manipulated, and bribed but that cannot happen with the Lord. The phrase, ´the way of the righteous´ refers to a lifestyle. The righteous pursue a holy lifestyle of meditating upon God´s word and obeying it while the unrighteous pursue their evil passions. God is aware of both ways and we can choose which way to take by the separation will happen on the judgment day.

According to the psalmist, God will reward the righteous and punish the unrighteous. Therefore, we need to pursue a righteous lifestyle before God. This does not mean that we are immune to sinning but do we have the courage to confess our sins before God? May the almighty God help us to live a holy lifestyle in a world where evil lifestyles appear to be attractive and rewarding
